Michael McDowall

Michael McDowall, P.Eng, has extensive experience in engineering within the power generation and nuclear waste sectors, currently serving as Manager of Balance of Plant Performance Engineering and Nuclear Waste Performance Engineering at Ontario Power Generation since May 2016. Responsibilities include leading a multidisciplinary team at the Western Waste Management Facility, overseeing significant engineering programs, and supporting incinerator outages. Michael also has a solid background in mechanical design and project management, evidenced by roles as Assistant Technical Engineer, where key contributions included mentoring new graduates, leading the Nuclear Waste Strategy and Innovation team, and serving as a subject matter expert for Small Modular Reactor technologies. Prior experience includes an engineering internship at Litens Automotive and involvement with Engineers Without Borders at the University of Toronto. Michael holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
