Senior Managing Director, Credit And Capital Markets Risk at Ontario Teachers'​ Pension Plan

Dervish Halil has a diverse work experience in the financial industry, spanning over several roles and companies. Dervish is currently working at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan as the Senior Managing Director, responsible for Credit and Capital Markets Risk. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Managing Director and Managing Director in Liquidity & Counterparty Credit Risk Management at the same company.

Before joining Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Dervish worked at CIBC, where they served as the VP & Head of Treasury Liquidity & Financial Crisis Management, as well as the Vice President and Head of Global Liquidity Management, Treasury. In these roles, they demonstrated their leadership skills by building and implementing a state-of-the-art liquidity management framework and providing strategic advisory on Basel 3 implications.

During their time at TD Securities, Dervish held various positions, including Director and Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Metals Trading Business Management. Dervish also worked at CIBC earlier in their career, holding roles such as Senior Director and Director in Treasury Market and Liquidity Risk Management.

Overall, Dervish Halil has an extensive background in risk management, liquidity management, and treasury operations. Their expertise and leadership have been demonstrated through their various roles in both global and domestic financial institutions.

Dervish Halil's education history begins in 1991 when they enrolled at the University of Waterloo, where they completed an Honours BASc. in Chemical Engineering in 1996.

After nearly 14 years, they pursued further education in 2010 at the Ivey Business School at Western University. There, they obtained a certificate in the TD Executive Leadership Build for the Future Program.

In 2011, they attended Harvard Law School for a certificate program on Negotiations for Senior Executives.

In 2013, they further expanded their expertise by completing a certificate program in Capital Modelling and Capital Management at the International Faculty of Finance.

In 2020, they obtained a certificate in Business Analytics: Decision Making Using Data from the Cambridge Judge Business School.

Continuing their commitment to education, in 2021, they attended the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management for the ICD Boardroom Dynamics for Senior Executives program.

Looking to the future, in 2023, they plan to complete a certificate program in Scenario Planning at Columbia Business School.
