Peter Tonev

Global Head Of Procurement at Ontario Teachers'​ Pension Plan

Peter Tonev has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Peter started their career at Deloitte in 1996, where they worked as a Senior Manager until 2010. Peter then joined EY as an Associate Partner from 2010 to 2016, after which they became a Vice President at Canadian Tire from 2016 to the present. Currently, Peter is the Global Head of Procurement at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, starting in 2023.

Peter Tonev completed their education in a chronological order. Peter first attended the University of Toronto from 1991 to 1996, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Industrial Engineering. After that, from 2006 to 2009, they studied at the University of Waterloo as part of the Masters of Taxation program, obtaining a Graduate Diploma. In terms of certifications, Peter obtained the Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification from APICS in December 1997. Peter later became a Professional Engineer through the Professional Engineers Ontario in March 2005. Subsequently, they obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in July 2013. Peter'snext certification was the Canadian Securities Course from CSI in March 2012. Lastly, in December 2016, they achieved the Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt certification from the Aveta Business Institute.
