Shane Butler

Shane Butler is a Principal Data Scientist at Ontra, with a robust background in data science and analytics. Prior to Ontra, Shane served as a Senior Data Scientist at Stripe and held several positions at Nextdoor, including Staff Data Scientist - Growth. At Nextdoor, Shane conducted spatial and statistical analysis to enhance community engagement through a personalized geofence model and developed a machine learning model that increased user interactions and revenue. Previously, Shane was the Lead Data Scientist at AppFolio, where forecasting and ML models were created to analyze the pandemic's impact on business operations. Shane’s experience also includes being an Analytics Consultant at PwC, where significant data visualizations were produced, and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University, focusing on econometrics. Shane began a career in community development as an educator in the Peace Corps, co-founding Indonesia's Bromo Marathon. Educational qualifications include a Master’s in Public Policy & Management with a focus on Data Analytics from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s in Global & International Studies from UC Santa Barbara.
