Joseph Cohen

Joseph Cohen is the founder and CEO of Universe. Prior to Universe, Cohen was the Special Projects Manager at Reformation, a sustainable fashion company. Cohen helped Reformation scale from a physical retailer with three stores to an internet-based growth business. In July 2019, Reformation was sold to Permira, a private equity firm.

Before Reformation, Cohen was the founder and CEO of Lore Inc., an online platform that turns classes into communities. Cohen started Lore while they were a student at Penn frustrated with the outdated products that were being used. Joseph and their cofounders moved to New York and raised $6mm in venture financing. Lore grew to have 150,000 users in 600 schools before being sold to Noodle in March 2013.

Joseph Cohen graduated from The Wharton School with a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Product Design. Joseph then went on to attend Y Combinator, a startup accelerator, where they gained experience in the startup world.
