Philip Woods

Philip Woods has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Philip began their career at Port Blakely Tree Farms as a GIS Manager, where they worked from March 1995 to May 2004. Philip then became self-employed as a GIS Consultant, offering GIS consulting and contracting services to companies in the Pacific Northwest from 2004 to 2012.

From 2006 to 2012, Philip worked as a GIS Expert contractor at Telecom Transport Management. Philip supported the company with market assessment, network design, and data management. Philip also mentored staff in geospatial technologies and established data acquisition and management workflows.

In 2012, Philip joined the State of Oregon as a Broadband Mapping Project Manager, overseeing the management and technical aspects of the project. Philip later became a Project Manager for the FirstNet in Oregon program, providing support for the development of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network in the state.

From 2015 to 2021, Philip worked at RootMetrics as an Associate Director in Geospatial Analytics. Philip played a key role in advancing the company's geo-analytic capabilities and integrating them into new products and professional services. Philip worked closely with teams such as Product, Analytics, Engineering, and Professional Services.

In 2021, Philip joined Ookla as an Associate Director in Geospatial Analytics, where they currently work.

Philip Woods completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Environment from the University of Sunderland from 1989 to 1992. Philip then went on to pursue their Master of Science degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at The University of Edinburgh from 1992 to 1993.
