Mikko Turunen

Mikko Turunen has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Mikko started their career at Pohjola Bank Plc as a Trade Finance Officer, handling documentary payments and providing customer service. Mikko then moved on to Nordea, where they worked as a Trade Finance Customer Officer, specializing in export Letters of Credit, and later as a Trade Finance Guarantee Officer, managing international bank guarantees.

In 2014, Mikko joined Maksukaista Paybyway Oy as a Member of the Board and owner in a payment service start-up. The company quickly became a market leader in online payment services and was successfully acquired by Bambora in 2015.

Subsequently, Mikko joined OP Financial Group, where they held various roles. Mikko started as a Trade Finance Specialist, working on demanding Trade Finance operations and developing the unit's service ability. Mikko then became a Product Manager, responsible for Trade Finance products and syndicated loans. Later, as an ICT Development Manager, they led the development work in Trade Finance, Corporate Finance, and Finance Company.

In 2017, Mikko transitioned to the role of a Development Manager and then Program Director, RTE, in a SAFe Agile Release Train. Mikko was responsible for implementing all development activities in OP Financial Group's Trade Finance, Corporate Finance, and Finance Company business areas.

From 2019 until 2021, Mikko served as an IT Area Lead, heading the IT of three business tribes and overseeing development and maintenance, performance, budgeting, and resourcing.

Most recently, they worked as a Tribe Lead in OP's Digital Capabilities tribe, leading 12 DevOps teams and being responsible for OP's External Identification and Access Management, Customer Enterprise Content Management, and Digital Customer Services.

Overall, Mikko Turunen has a wealth of experience in the financial sector, with expertise in trade finance, development management, and agile project management.

Mikko Turunen attended Lappeenranta University of Technology from 2007 to 2010, where they studied Business Administration and Management. In 2009, they also briefly studied Business Administration at California State University, Fullerton. Additionally, Mikko has obtained certifications in SAFe Agilist, SAFe PMPO, and SAFe RTE from Scaled Agile, Inc.
