Eleanor Castillo Sumi, Ph.D., BCBA-D, is vice president of Research & Program Development at Uplift Family Services. Dr. Castillo Sumi has an extensive background in program evaluation, Applied Behavior Analysis, mental health, and education. As a licensed psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, she developed the Specialty Applied Behavior Analysis (sABA) program at Uplift Family Services. Dr. Castillo Sumi obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology at Palo Alto University where she was awarded Dissertation of the Year among her graduating class.
Dr. Castillo Sumi’s background includes broad experience providing mental health services to youth and families in mental health, community-based and school settings; training and consulting with school personnel regarding mental health and behavioral issues and strategies; working with children with autism spectrum disorder, and managing her own business. As a past Best Practices Specialist for the State of Hawaii Child and Adolescent Mental Health Department, she is well-versed in the most current Evidence-Based Practices. Dr. Castillo Sumi had an earlier incarnation at EMQFF as Corporate Compliance Officer and Outcomes and Quality Assurance Director. In addition to her experience, Dr. Castillo Sumi has several publications (e.g., American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, the National Association of Dual Diagnosis (NADD) Bulletin, etc.).
