Tyra Jackson is an experienced academic and journalist, currently serving as the Aggie Research Leader at Texas A&M University since August 2019, where responsibilities include guiding undergraduate research projects. In addition, Tyra holds the position of DEIA Academic Affairs Chair, focusing on enhancing diversity and inclusion within the university. Tyra has also contributed to the Race and Ethnic Studies Institute, facilitating organizational efforts and research initiatives. With a strong background in journalism, Tyra works as a volunteer copy editor for the Journal of African American Women and Girls in Education and has experience as a communications specialist at the Panama City Rescue Mission. Reporting roles span various publications, including the Panama City News Herald and Opelika-Auburn News. Tyra possesses advanced degrees, including a Ph.D. in Communication from Texas A&M University and multiple master's degrees in Community Journalism from the University of Alabama.

The O-A News is located in the Opelika-Auburn area, and proudly serves all of Lee County AL, and the surrounding areas, providing local news and information that is relevant to our local community. We strive to be the primary source of all local news and information, and much of our content is available online or via mobile devices in addition to the printed newspaper. We also offer advertising design services and assist customers with marketing plans, digital advertising options, and printing services.
