Juan Carlos López is a Senior Program Manager at Azure Space, Microsoft’s newest team serving the global space industry. In 2021, he graduated from a dual MBA and MS degree program from the Harvard Business School. Additionally, he holds a mechanical engineering undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, becoming the first person in his family to graduate from college. Juan Carlos worked as a Project Manager at NASA for nearly 10 years, as both a student intern and full-time engineer. Besides fulfilling his engineering and business obligations, Juan Carlos was elected President of the Hispanic Employee Resource Group, responsible for coordinating STEM educational outreach and professional development activities aligned with the agency’s diversity and inclusion efforts. In addition, he leveraged the group’s talents and cultural sensitivity to help NASA establish partnerships with emerging space markets in Latin America resulting in the first Mexican payload, AztechSat-1, launching to the International Space Station.
