Laura Douglas is a seasoned legal professional with a focus on public interest law. Currently serving as a Housing Attorney at Open Door Legal since December 2021, Laura has previously contributed to the Cornell Center on the Death Penalty Worldwide in roles including Database Manager and Associate Director of Research and Training. Experience includes a clerkship at the United States District Court and an internship in the Prosecution Division at the International Criminal Court. Laura has also worked as a staff attorney at the Metropolitan Public Defender, where responsibilities included trial preparation for misdemeanor cases. As a student attorney at the Stanford Community Law Clinic, Laura gained hands-on experience in various legal areas under expert supervision. Early career roles included litigation and legal internships at prominent organizations such as the ACLU of Northern California and Orleans Public Defenders. Laura holds a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School and a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington.
