Prashant Shukle

Vice Chair at Open Geospatial Consortium

Prashant Shukle has been a leading figure in the geospatial industry for over two decades. Prashant is currently the Vice Chair at Open Geospatial Consortium, and has previously held positions at KorrAI, PLACE, World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC), Space Strategies Consulting Ltd, Global Geospatial Group, and Natural Resources Canada.

Prashant has been instrumental in developing the Vision and implementation plan for the creation of the Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation. Prashant has also led all transformation and integration efforts while implementing and responding to budget reductions and their impacts.

Under Prashant's leadership, Canada has become a geospatial data destination for the rest of the world, through such initiatives as development of the Inuvik Satellite Facility and partnerships with international space agencies, and the private sector. Prashant has also worked with federal, provincial and territorial governments to implement Canada's Geospatial Data Infrastructure - a national strategic asset designed to share and use high value geospatial data and tools.

Most recently, Prashant has modernized and managed Government of Canada Satellite Ground Stations, and led efforts to ensure effect launch of the RadarSat Constellation Mission in 2019.

Prashant Shukle has a Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Politics and Economics from the University of Saskatchewan, a Master's degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Coaching Certification from CCI Leadership Institute.
