Rob Van De Velde

Rob Van De Velde is the current Director at Open Geospatial Consortium. Rob has also previously worked at Geonovum, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam / VU, Dienst Landelijk Gebied, RIVM, Stichting BIM Loket, Publieke Dienstverlening op de Kaart, and Ministerie van VROM.

Rob Van De Velde has been working in the field of spatial planning for over 25 years. Rob started their career as a wetenschappelijk medewerker ruimtelijke planning at the Ministerie van VROM in 1985. In 1990, they became the Hoofd GIS Afdeling at RIVM and held that position until 1995 when they became the Coordinator Ruimtelijk Onderzoek. Rob left RIVM in 2000 to become the Hoofd GIS Competence Center at Dienst Landelijk Gebied. In 2006, they left that position to become a Partner and Bestuurslid at Stichting BIM Loket. In 2007, they became the Kwartiermaker - programmamanager at Publieke Dienstverlening op de Kaart and held that position until 2009. In 2015, they left that position to become the Director at Open Geospatial Consortium.

Rob Van De Velde received their Doctorate in Social Geography from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
