Catherine Brewer

Catherine Brewer is a research assistant at the Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford, focusing on side effect penalisation for reinforcement learning agents. Previous experience includes a summer research fellowship at the Centre for the Governance of AI, where contributions were made to UK government research on AI policy, and an internship at the AI Safety Hub, investigating inductive bias in deep neural networks. As team lead for the OxAI Safety Hub, Catherine Brewer managed fundraising, communications, and events within the organization. Additional roles include research assistant positions at the University of Oxford and the Cambridge Existential Risks Initiative, as well as content creation for StudySmarter. Catherine Brewer is pursuing a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at the University of Oxford.
