Open Window School
Elaine Christensen has extensive work experience in the field of education. Elaine is currently the Head of School at Open Window School, a position they have held since 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Lakeside School from 2012 to 2020, where they served as the Middle School Director and Director of Professional Development. Before their time at Lakeside School, Elaine held various roles at the same institution from 1992 to 2012, including Associate Director of Upper School, Director of Professional Development, Dean of Students, Community Service Coordinator, and English Teacher. Prior to joining Lakeside School, they were the Dean of Students and an English Teacher at Charles Wright Academy from 1989 to 1992. Elaine began their career in education as an English Teacher and Rowing Coach at Peddie School from 1986 to 1989.
Elaine Christensen completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature, with a focus on General studies, from Northwestern University between 1982 and 1986. Elaine then pursued further education at Middlebury College, where they earned a Master of Arts degree in English Language and Literature in 1994. Following this, Elaine attended Teachers College, Columbia University from 2001 to 2002, where they obtained a Master of Education in Private School Leadership.
Open Window School
Open Window School is a K-8 independent school located in Bellevue, Washington. Founded in 1985 to provide an educational environment specially designed for gifted learners, Open Window is a school “For Gifted Kids Who Love to Learn.” The learning environment provides a challenging academic curriculum blended with nurturing support from teachers that prepares students for long-term success. Open Window is fully accredited by NWAIS (Northwest Association of Independent Schools). Current enrollment is 358 students.
