Alex Knittel

Alex Knittel is an accomplished data science professional currently serving as a Member of Data Science Staff (Data Engineering) at OpenAI since December 2023, contributing to the development of safe and beneficial AI technologies. Prior to this role, Alex worked at Stripe from July 2018 to November 2023 as a Data Science Engineer, where responsibilities included optimizing data pipelines, developing LLM-based migration tools, and leading significant projects. Alex's experience also includes positions as a Data Engineer at Jumpshot Inc, a Data Science Fellow at Galvanize Inc, and a Senior Risk Analyst at PayJunction, among others. In addition to technical expertise in data engineering and analytics, Alex has a strong educational background with a BA in Economics/Mathematics from UC Santa Barbara.
