Sowmya Ranganathan

Sowmya Ranganathan has strong work experience in finance and accounting. Sowmya began their career in 2008 as an Accounting Analyst Intern at the TMX Group and then moved on to work at Ernst & Young from 2009-2014 as a Senior—Assurance where they worked on public and private company financial statement audits and served as the primary point of contact with clients. In 2014, they worked at Fuze, Inc. as a Senior Accountant, where they were responsible for supervising the accounts payable team and was the face of finance to the rest of the company. From 2014-2017, Sowmya was a Corporate Accounting Manager at Square and managed the Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual GL close, ensuring that all deadlines were met and building and managing a process to deliver high-quality Audit PBCs to external auditors in a timely manner. Sowmya also worked at Brightloom from 2017-2019, where they held the position of Assistant Controller for one year and later became a Controller. In their most recent role, Sowmya worked at Rippling as a Controller from 2019-2023. Sowmya was responsible for automating all manual HR and IT processes. Sowmya is currently working as a Controller at OpenAI, starting in 2023.

Sowmya Ranganathan has a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo, with a focus on Chartered Accountancy and Finance. Sowmya also has a Master of Accounting degree from the same university. In addition, they hold the professional designation of CPA, CA (Ontario) from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and is a Certified Public Accountant from the California Board of Accountancy.
