Levente Juhász is an accomplished academic and professional in the field of Geographic Information Science, currently serving as the Assistant Director of GIScience and Research Assistant Professor at Florida International University since January 2019. Juhász specializes in the innovative application of geospatial data, technologies, and GeoAI, with research interests in crowdsourced mapping and data quality assessment. Additionally, Juhász has assumed the role of Interim Director of the GIS Center, overseeing various operational aspects, including budget and strategic planning. In February 2024, Juhász became Vice President of the Board of Directors for OpenStreetMap US. Previous roles include Data Scientist at Mapillary, Visiting Scientist at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, and several research assistant positions. Juhász holds a Ph.D. in Geomatics from the University of Florida and both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Geoinformatics and Geography from the University of Szeged.
