Awais Bajwa

Awais Bajwa has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. In 2005, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Emirates, where they developed a Java framework and rolled out the Emirates e-Learning portal. From 2006 to 2008, they served as a Senior SOA Architect at Dubai Customs.

In 2010, Bajwa joined Health Dialog as a Healthcare Data Integration Specialist, where they delivered data integration pipelines and developed a data analytics platform. Awais also played a key role in developing a physician and patient-facing product using Event-Driven Architecture and SOA.

From 2011 to 2014, Bajwa worked at Emerson Network Power as a Principal Technologist and Technical Consultant. Here they provided senior-level leadership in design and development and was responsible for delivering a strategic product, Trellis. Awais also standardized best practices and design templates and established a data governance framework.

At EY, from 2014 to 2015, Bajwa served as a Manager Advisory Services, leading offshore data integration teams and delivering architecture and design solutions.

Starting in 2015, Bajwa moved to GE Power & Water, where they served as a Data Integration Leader. In 2017, they joined GE Digital as an Integration Product Leader and then as a Sr. Technical Product Manager. Bajwa also briefly worked as a Writer on Medium in 2019, primarily focusing on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Awais has been a Senior Data Scientist at GE Vernova since 2023.

Lastly, Bajwa founded Ophthalytics in 2020, an applied AI company specializing in AI-based medical diagnostics. The company's mission is to end preventable blindness caused by Diabetic Retinopathy and other vision-threatening retinal diseases.

Awais Bajwa completed a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) degree from Michigan State University from 2000 to 2002. In 1999, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics I, Mathematics II Statistics & Advanced Physics from the Institute of Administrative Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore - Pakistan.
