OPRL Limited
An environmental labelling and certification scheme, OPRL is a not-for-profit supporting consumer recycling of packaging by giving simple, clear, and consistent advice on-pack and supporting improved packaging design and procurement. http://bit.ly/JoinOPRL Our internationally cited, award-winning scheme brings together retailers, brands, packer/fillers, packaging designers and manufacturers, compliance schemes, local authorities, and the recycling industry. We support members with - designing for recycling tool - recyclability certification (B2B) - evidence-based rules on labelling packaging (B2C) - print-ready artwork - online support and tools - QA compliance monitoring Overview: OPRL was the world's first scheme to create a label that provides consumers with reliable and consistent information about what is and isn't collected for recycling. For the first time, consumers are put at the heart of the scheme. No other recycling symbol/logo had ever done this. Our purpose: To collaborate across the packaging value cycle to drive circularity and a transformation in packaging resource efficiency Our scheme involves over 800 brand owners, retailers, charities, and packaging value cycle partners from supermarkets to publishers, baby food producers to leisure organisations, designers to waste management companies. Our label appears on tens of thousands of products. Any company putting consumer packaging onto the UK market is eligible to join OPRL. Our members span global brands with thousands of product lines to SMEs with a single product. Recent research shows that 3 in 4 consumers recognise our label. Putting the OPRL label on packaging is a credible and recognised strand to a CSR strategy. UNEP cite us as global good practice in giving clear, evidenced, and actionable advice.
