Nicholas Lukacs began their work experience in 1995 as an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School. Nicholas then progressed to become an Associate Professor in 2001 and a Professor in 2006, all within the same institution.
In 2013, Lukacs started working as the Godfrey D. Stobbe Professor of Pathology at the University of Michigan.
In 2014, they also took on the role of Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at Opsidio, LLC.

Nicholas Lukacs obtained their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Central Michigan University, where they studied from 1982 to 1986. Nicholas then pursued a Master's degree in Immunology at the University of New Hampshire from 1986 to 1988. Later, they attended Wayne State University and completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Microbiology and Immunology from 1988 to 1992.
