Ali Pourmousavi Kani serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide since June 2019 and co-founded OptiGrid in September 2023. Prior experience includes roles as a Research Fellow at the University of Queensland and a Postdoctoral Scientist at both DTU - Technical University of Denmark and NEC Laboratories America, Inc. Ali Pourmousavi Kani has expertise in the sizing and management of grid-scale batteries and the development of novel control and optimization strategies for battery systems. Prior to higher education roles, work included positions at California ISO, where project coordination and market engineering support were provided, and various engineering roles in the power and textile industries. Ali Pourmousavi Kani holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering) from Montana State University-Bozeman, a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power & Energy Management) from Amirkabir University of Technology, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering) from the University of Mazandaran.

OptiGrid is a University of Adelaide spin-out, aiming to apply innovations at the intersection of data science and power systems to the energy industry's challenges. OptiGrid's technology maximises revenue for energy assets exposed to wholesale electricity prices by optimising their operation. Our solution is beneficial for flexible energy assets, including utility and distributed batteries, aiming to improve their revenue.
