Nejat Karabakal

Nejat Karabakal has extensive work experience in the field of optimization and consulting. Nejat is currently working as an Optimization Consultant at Optilogic since 2021. Prior to this, Nejat worked as a Consultant from 2019 to 2020.

Nejat has also held various roles at LLamasoft, Inc., including Chief Science Officer from 2018 to 2019, Vice President of Applied Research from 2012 to 2018, and Operations Research Developer from 2006 to 2012. In these positions, they led the Applied Research department, developed algorithmic innovations, and contributed to product release cycles.

Before LLamasoft, Nejat was a Senior Staff Scientist at SherTrack LLC from 2002 to 2005 and a Software Development Manager at Crystallize, Inc. (now Applimation) from 2000 to 2002. Nejat also worked as a Supply Chain Consultant at IBM from 1997 to 2000 and as an Engineering Consultant at Production Modeling Corporation (PMC) from 1996 to 1997.

Nejat's earlier work experience includes positions as an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Research Scientist at the University of Michigan from 1994 to 1995 and as an Assistant Professor at Bilkent University from 1992 to 1994.

Nejat Karabakal holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi / Middle East Technical University.
