Gerald Smith

Gerald Smith is currently an advisor at OptimEyes.ai, a position they have held since 2020. Gerald has also previously served as the Director of Privacy and Data Governance as well as the Data Protection Officer at Asurion from May 2016 to September 2020. Prior to that, they were with GM Financial from November 2013 to May 2016 as their Data Protection/Privacy Officer for International Operations. Gerald has also served in various advisory roles for a recording industry startup and Powerscore. Gerald began their career in 2008 as an LSAT instructor and Operational Risk Consultant for Wachovia Bank/Wells Fargo Bank.

Gerald Smith has a B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Juris Doctor in Taxation from Chapman University, School of Law, and an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) in Business Administration and Management, General from Quantic School of Business and Technology. Gerald also holds certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E).
