Patrick Barragán

VP, Autonomy at Optimus Ride

Patrick Barragán has a diverse work experience in the field of robotics and autonomy. Patrick started their career as the Chief Roboticist at Expansion Technologies in June 2015 and held the position until February 2016. Following this, they co-founded Veo Robotics, Inc. in March 2016 and served as the Head of Robotics before leaving in October 2016. In November 2016, Barragán joined Optimus Ride as an Engineering Manager and Technical Lead for Planning and Control in Vehicle Systems. Patrick worked in this role until July 2018 when they were promoted to Director of Robotics. In November 2019, they further advanced to the position of Senior Director of Autonomy. Currently, Barragán holds the position of Vice President of Autonomy at Optimus Ride, a role they took on in July 2021.

Patrick Barragán has an extensive education history. Patrick began their academic journey in 2004 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in both Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Patrick successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 2008.

Building upon their foundational knowledge, Patrick went on to pursue higher education at MIT. From 2008 to 2012, they pursued a Master of Science degree in both Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. During this time, they gained a deeper understanding of these fields through specialized coursework and research.

Patrick's dedication to academia continued, and they enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy program at MIT. From 2012 to 2015, they successfully completed their doctoral studies, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Patrick'sresearch during this time further expanded their expertise in the field.
