Joshua Cohen

Joshua Cohen has had a varied career in the medical field. In 2013, they began as a Graduate Research Assistant for Dr. Sarah Clinton at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where they completed their doctoral training and focused on the identification of neural and molecular determinants of anxiety-like behavior in rodents utilizing high-throughput genetic sequencing. In 2019, they joined the University of California, San Francisco as a Resident Physician (Psychiatry, Research Track) and was later promoted to Chief Resident for Research. In 2022, they began working as a Medical Consultant for Options MD, a Techstars company that provides personalized care for people struggling with severe and treatment-resistant mental illnesses. In this role, they work on developing proprietary assessment tools to more accurately diagnose patients, predict side effects, identify personalized treatment plans for patients, and track symptoms and recovery over time.

Joshua Cohen attended Muhlenberg College from 2007 to 2011, earning a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. Joshua then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2011 to 2017, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience. Finally, they attended the UAB School of Medicine from 2011 to 2019, earning a Doctor of Medicine.
