Michael Hines has had a long and varied career in the telecommunications industry. Michael began their professional career in 1982 as an Army Engineer Officer in the Individual Ready Reserves, and was later promoted to a US Army Corps of Engineer Officer. In 1992, they became the Vice President and Owner of SCUBA Works, and then in 1994 they became the Facilities Manager for Healthcare Recoveries, Inc. In 1995, they became the Project Manager for Quality Communications Inc., and in 1998 they were a PSO Consultant and Project Manager for Lucent Technologies Services Company & Volt Services Group. From 2000 to 2003, they were a Business Process Manager for Avaya Inc., and then from 2003 to 2009 they were a Services Delivery Manager for Avaya Inc. In 2009, they became the Managing Principal for APS North America Technical Delivery at Avaya Federal Solutions, Inc. From 2022 to present, they have been the Professional Services Director for Optivor Technologies, LLC and the Unified Communications Technology Consultant for HITRC.

Michael Hines completed a Master of Science in Project & Systems Management from Golden Gate University in 1993. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Kentucky in 1982.
