James Davis

James Davis has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry. James is currently the Chief Investment Officer at OPTrust, a position they have held since August 2015. Prior to this, they were the Vice President, Strategy & Asset Mix and Chief Economist at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan from June 2006 to August 2015. In this role, they led a team responsible for investment strategy at the total fund, keeping the Board and senior management apprised of the global economic and market environment. James was also responsible for developing the policy asset mix, identifying and proposing strategies for managing medium-term risk, and developing investment programs for long-term equities, LDI, emerging markets and natural resources. In addition, they oversaw the integration of a responsible investing framework within the various investment departments and implemented a framework for assessing EM country risk. James has also participated on many internal and external committees and represented the organization as a speaker in various forums.

Before their time at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, James was the President of Futurestrend Capital Corporation from May 2003 to May 2006. Prior to that, they were a Senior Fixed Income Analyst at RBC Global Investment Management from January 1995 to December 1999. James started their career as a Senior Manager at Royal Bank of Canada in Corporate Treasury from January 1989 to December 1994.

James Davis has a MBA in finance from Dalhousie University, a diploma in meteorology from Dalhousie University, and a B.Sc in math and engineering from Dalhousie University. James also has a certification from Ivey Executive Education - Ivey Business School at Western University in Ivey Leadership and a certification from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts in Chartered Financial Analyst.

Their manager is Peter Lindley, CEO. They are on a team with Tracy Hatanaka-lejnieks - Interim Chief Financial Officer, Rick Votano - SVP, Digital, and Stephen Solursh - SVP and General Counsel.
