Alison Loat

Alison Loat has a diverse and extensive work experience. Alison currently serves as the Senior Managing Director of Sustainable Investing and Innovation at OPTrust, where they lead a team responsible for building an investment portfolio focused on sustainability and innovation, particularly in relation to climate change. Alison also holds additional responsibilities such as vice-chairing OPTrust's corporate ESG initiative and advising on reputational risk matters.

Prior to their current role, Alison was a Non-Executive Board Director at Ai-Media, a global technology company that makes content accessible to everyone. Alison chaired the Remuneration & Nominations Committee and served on the Finance & Audit Committee.

Alison's previous experience includes being a Senior Managing Director at FCLTGlobal, a Senior Fellow and Instructor at the University of Toronto, and an Advisor at Common Wealth Pension Services. Alison has also worked as the Chief Marketing Officer at Advanced Practice Strategies and as the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Samara Canada.

Earlier in their career, Alison worked at McKinsey & Company, where they led teams in developing strategies for companies and governments. Alison also had roles at MaRS Discovery District and Canada25, where they contributed to various projects and played key leadership roles in organizational growth.

Alison's work experience demonstrates their expertise in sustainable investing, strategic planning, governance, and developing programs and organizations from scratch.

Alison Loat has a diverse education history. Alison first attended Queen's University from 1994 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Political Studies. After that, they pursued further education at the Harvard Kennedy School from 2002 to 2004, earning a Master in Public Policy (MPP) degree with a focus on Public Policy. Later, in 2017 and 2018, Alison attended Harvard Business School, where they completed a program called "Leading with Finance."

In addition to their formal education, Alison Loat obtained a certification in "Board Oversight of Climate Change" from the Institute of Corporate Directors in March 2022.
