Ramakrishna Varadarajan

Ramakrishna Varadarajan is an accomplished software engineer with extensive experience in database optimization and analytics. Currently serving as a Consulting Member of Technical Staff at Oracle Labs since January 2020, Ramakrishna has optimized MySQL’s OLTP query engine and HeatWave’s OLAP engine while developing observability infrastructure on Oracle Cloud. Prior to this, Ramakrishna worked at Akamai Technologies for over four years as a Senior System Software Engineer II, where responsibilities included the development of a distributed query platform for real-time analytics and a Distributed Historical Query framework. Previous roles include Senior Software Engineer at Sqrrl Data, Inc., and System Software Engineer at Vertica Systems, focusing on database design and performance. Ramakrishna started a career as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, addressing frequent pattern mining in large biological and chemical databases. Ramakrishna holds a PhD in Computer Science from Florida International University and an Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology.
