Lorena de Oñate Monje has worked in a variety of roles throughout their career. Lorena began as a Pharmacy Assistant at Farmàcia Serra Trull in 2006, followed by a Research Internship at Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) in 2009. Lorena then completed a Master Student role at CMRB in 2009 and a PhD Student role at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in 2013. In 2015, they became a Research Assistant at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), followed by a Postdoctoral Scholar role at the University of California, Berkeley in 2016. From 2018 to 2020, they held the roles of Assistant Project Scientist and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Innovative Genomics Institute. Most recently, they have been a Scientific Consultant at Orbillion Bio (YC W21) since 2020 and is currently a Scientist III, Cancer Immunology at Genentech since 2023.
Lorena de Oñate Monje obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2009. Lorena then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Biomedical Research from Universitat Pompeu Fabra from 2009 to 2010. In 2015, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedicine from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Animal Experimentation (Categories: B and C) from Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañón (Madrid, Spain) in 2015.
