Chief Architect at Orbital Insight

Charlie Savage has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries. In 1993, they started their career as an Associate Engineer at Environ Corporation. Charlie then founded Pinyon Software, where they developed RiskEZ, a human health risk assessment program. Charlie moved on to Smallworld in 1997, where they held various roles such as Technical Lead, Director of the Internet Development Group, and Strategic Planning. During their time at Smallworld, they led the development of the company's GIS web product suite. In 2003, Charlie joined GE Energy as the Chief Architect, responsible for integrating various systems installed in utilities and telecommunication companies. Charlie also led the creation of the Technology Center of Excellence and acted as a standards evangelist. Charlie later joined Ubisense as a Director, launching their real-time, indoor location platform in North America. Charlie then founded Zerista, a cloud-based event management platform, and served as the CEO until its merger with JackRabbit Systems, where they became the CTO. Charlie also worked as the Vice President of Simpleview and the Senior Engineering Manager of Engineering and Strategic Planning at Pattern Computer. Currently, Charlie is the Chief Architect at Orbital Insight, designing and scaling their TerraScope platform, which blends computer vision and geolocation sensor data to detect changes, monitor activity, and discover patterns of life.

Charlie Savage earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University in 1992. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1992, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering and Geology from the same institution. In addition to their formal education, Charlie also holds certifications in Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera and Machine Learning from Coursera, both obtained in 2019.
