Roger Carter

VP, Engineering, Senior Mechanical Engineer at Orbital Micro Systems

Roger Carter is the VP of Engineering and a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Orbital Micro Systems. Prior to joining Orbital Micro Systems, Roger was a visiting researcher at Stanford University where they collaborated with the Radioglaciology research group. Roger's aim was to develop a standard method of assessing automated picking algorithms, used to model the internal structure of the Antarctic Ice Sheet.

Before their time at Stanford, Roger Carter was a PhD researcher at The University of Edinburgh where they developed novel radar processing algorithms to characterise the internal structure and hydrology of polar glaciers using ice-penetrating radar.

Carter's research career began as a research student at the British Antarctic Survey where they worked on an MSc Exploration Geophysics dissertation project inverting surface seismic data to find attenuation variations across an area to help predict ice melting characteristics and history.

Roger Carter's educational career includes a Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Edinburgh, a Master of Science from University of Leeds, and a Bachelor of Science from Lancaster University. Roger also studied Natural Sciences/North America and Physics and Environmental Science at McMaster University and Ripon Grammar School.

Some individuals on their team include Michael Marques - Senior RF Engineer, Johnny Hendricks - Scientific Programmer & Software Engineer, and Robert Belter - Principal Engineer. Their manager is Michael Hurowitz, CEO & CTO. They work with Frank McAllister - CFO, Albin Gasiewski - Chief Scientist, and David Gallaher - COO.
