Melissa Barker serves as the Polar STEAM Outreach and Engagement Lead at Oregon State University since January 2023. Prior to this role, Melissa was a DEVO Mountain Bike Coach at Boulder Junior Cycling from March 2021 to January 2023, where responsibilities included designing and facilitating skill-based mountain bike sessions for junior riders. From August 2003 to January 2023, Melissa was the Director of Experiential Education and a Science Teacher at Alexander Dawson School, where contributions included planning and overseeing trips programs, developing a ninth-grade biology curriculum, founding and coaching the cyclocross team, and participating in various committees. Melissa also worked as a Mountain Bike Specialist at Avid4 Adventure in June 2022, leading expeditions and facilitating camp activities. Melissa holds a Master’s degree in Science Education/Natural Sciences from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Middlebury College.
