Andrew Harmel Law has extensive work experience in the field of technology and software development. Andrew started their career at Sun Microsystems, where they worked as a J2EE Software Architect and later as a Senior Presales Technical Architect. In these roles, they provided technical support, advised clients on technology usage, and designed technical solutions for various business requirements. Andrew also represented Sun on program Technical Directorates and managed key initiatives and proof of concepts.
After their time at Sun Microsystems, Andrew joined Capgemini as the Head of the UK Java/JVM Team. In this role, they led a team of software engineers and was responsible for technical strategy, oversight, and delivery of high-scale projects. Andrew also played a role in sales and bid processes, recruitment, and mentorship.
Additionally, Andrew has been involved with multiple organizations in advisory and collaborative roles. Andrew served as an Expert Group Member for the Java Community Process, specifically working on the Java Date/Time API (JSR310). Andrew was also an Advisory Board Member for A New Normal Ltd, providing their expertise in technology and software development.
Currently, Andrew is working at ThoughtWorks as a Technical Principal, where they apply their expertise to guide technical decisions and provide leadership in software development projects.
In 2022, they also became a Co-Author at O'Reilly Media, contributing their knowledge and insights to the publication of technical books.

Andrew Harmel Law earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (with Honors) from the University of St Andrews from 1993 to 1997. Andrew then pursued a Master of Science degree in Information Technology, specializing in Humanities Computing, at the University of Glasgow from 1998 to 1999. In addition to their formal education, Andrew obtained several certifications in machine learning and deep neural networks from Coursera, including "Structuring Machine Learning Projects" in May 2018, "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization" in April 2018, and "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" in December 2017.
