Desi González

Desi González has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. They started their career as an Education Assistant at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2010. They then worked as an Education Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2015. During this time, they also held a position as a User Researcher and Designer at La Victoria Lab from July 2015 to October 2015.

Desi González then transitioned into the museum sector, becoming the Kress Interpretive Art Museum Fellow at The Museum of Modern Art from September 2012 to August 2013. They later served as the Manager of Digital at The Andy Warhol Museum from October 2015 to August 2018. In this role, they developed and implemented a digital strategy, managed websites and mobile apps, and led teams to deliver high-quality digital experiences.

In 2018, Desi González founded their own consultancy, Desi González Projects, where they focused on developing digital tools and experiences that provide equitable access to culture and government. Their clients included notable institutions such as the Andy Warhol Museum, Kimbell Art Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Archive Center, and Westmoreland Museum of Art.

Desi González then worked as a Design Researcher on contract with Dell Technologies from October 2018 to February 2019. In this role, they conducted qualitative user research and proposed new directions for consumer-facing software.

Afterwards, Desi González joined the City of Austin as a Product Manager from February 2019 to March 2020. They served as product manager for the city's future technology stack, leading a cross-functional team to deliver digital projects. They also held the role of Content Strategist during the same period, designing resident-friendly content and making recommendations for improvements.

Desi González then joined Verb - The digital leadership development platform in July 2020. They started as a Product Manager before being promoted to Director of Product in July 2022. They eventually became the Director of Product & Engineering until their exit in October 2022. Verb is a platform that focuses on developing human-centered skills for team members and leaders.

Desi González's most recent work experience is as a Group Product Manager at O'Reilly Media, starting in October 2022.

Desi González completed their Master of Science (M.S.) in Comparative Media Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Emory University, majoring in Art History and Linguistics. Desi also holds a certification as a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from the Scrum Alliance, which was obtained in September 2019.
