In 1998, they began their undergraduate studies at the University of Hamburg, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law in 2003. In 2004, Jan pursued postgraduate supplementary studies in Commercial Law at the University of Hamburg. During the same year, they also enrolled in postgraduate studies specializing in Sportslaw at FernUniversität in Hagen, which they completed in 2006.

Continuing their educational journey, Jan attended Deakin University from 2007 to 2008 to earn a Master's degree in Law.
