Van Lindberg has a diverse work experience in the field of computer law and intellectual property. Van is currently a Partner at Taylor English Duma LLP, where they advise clients on various computer law issues, including patent counseling, IP litigation, software copyright, and tech transactions/M&A. In addition, they are the Founder/CEO of OSPOCO.

Van Lindberg has authored the book "Intellectual Property and Open Source: A Practical Guide to Protecting Code" and has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Python Software Foundation. In their role as General Counsel and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Python Software Foundation, they reorganized the foundation, developed trademark use policies, and handled litigation and compliance issues.

Van has also worked as a Member at Dykema Gossett, advising clients on IP strategy, autonomous vehicles, open source, and patent portfolio management. At Rackspace, they held multiple roles as VP and Associate General Counsel and VP of Technology, overseeing the company's intellectual property program, patent litigation, and reducing litigation costs.

Furthermore, Van Lindberg has served as a director of the OpenStack Foundation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Python Software Foundation. Earlier in their career, they practiced intellectual property law at Haynes and Boone, focusing on patent and open source-related issues, and worked as an extern/intern for in-house IP counsel at Novell.

Van Lindberg received their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and History (Double Major) from Brigham Young University, which they attended from 1994 to 2003. Later, they pursued a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from BYU Law School, from 2003 to 2006.
