Dawit Dembel Balcha

Dawit Dembel Balcha is an experienced finance professional with a robust background in accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. Currently serving as Head of Accounts, Reporting & Treasury at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons since January 2023, Dawit previously held the position of Budget & Finance Officer at the International Civil Aviation Organization from August 2020 to January 2023. Dawit's career with UNOPS spanned from 2010 to 2020, during which various roles included Program Support Officer and Finance Lead, as well as multiple positions in compliance and reporting. Dawit began the professional journey at the NILE BASIN INITIATIVE/UNOPS as a Finance Associate from 2007 to 2010 and worked as a Finance Assistant at UNDP in 2006-2007. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Leicester (2013-2016) and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from Unity University (2001-2005).
