Head: Health And Safety at OPCW

Riedawaan Pillay is an experienced professional in health, safety, and environmental management, currently serving as the Head of Health and Safety at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) since February 2020. Prior to this role, Riedawaan worked as a Programme Manager for the TB in Mines programme at Wits Health Consortium and held the position of Director at HSEC Strategic Solutions, focusing on consultancy in health, safety, environment, and community (HSEC) disciplines. Riedawaan’s extensive background includes serving as Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment & Community at BHP Billiton, where responsibilities included global HSEC strategy and oversight, and as SHE Manager at Eskom. Academic qualifications include a MBChB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, a Diploma in Anaesthesiology from the South African College of Medicine, and a Diploma in Occupational Health from the University of the Witwatersrand, complemented by a Senior Management Programme at Stellenbosch University.
