Steve Haufler has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of swimming coaching and instruction. Steve started their career in 1974 as a Swimming Coach at U.C. Santa Barbara, Terrapins Swim Team, and Loveland Swim Team. In 1981, they founded and became the Head Coach of the Montclair Swim Team and also established the Haufler Aquatics Swim School, which they ran until 2010. Steve Haufler has also served as the Head Swimming Coach at Miramonte High School and Skyline High School from 1983 to 1990.
In 1999, they became the Aquatics Director and Head Swimming Coach at Orinda Country Club, as well as a USA Swimming Coach at Orinda Aquatics.
