Tom Gutteridge has a strong background in software engineering and development. Tom started their career as an Industrial Placement Student at BAE Systems, where they worked on various software projects related to air-to-surface ballistics, flight simulation, and fuel-system software. Tom then joined CA Technologies as a Software Engineer, where they contributed to the development of a messaging subsystem for global-scale enterprise management software.
Following this, Tom worked at the University of Canterbury as an Analyst Programmer before joining BBC Future Media & Technology as a Senior Software Engineer. At BBC, they played a crucial role in the development of the software framework for the YouView IPTV platform and was also the technical lead for the multi-screen sport service developed for the Beijing Olympics.
After their time at BBC, Tom joined Tait Communications as a Senior Design Engineer - Software. Tom was responsible for sustaining the delivery of quality software for critical communications solutions, including the development of application and web presentation layers in C++ and Java. Tom also took on the role of Scrum Master, advancing agile practices within the team.
Currently, Tom is working as a Senior Software Engineer at Orion Health, where they continue to contribute their expertise in software engineering.

Tom Gutteridge received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of York. Tom attended the university from 1997 to 2001, graduating with a 2:1 classification. In 2018, Tom pursued further education by enrolling in the University of Canterbury, where they completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Data Science in 2019.
In addition to their formal education, Tom has obtained several certifications throughout their career. Tom became a Certified Scrum Master in 2009 through the Scrum Alliance. In 2010, they achieved the Sun Certified Java Developer certification from Oracle. Tom further enhanced their Scrum qualifications by obtaining the title of Certified Scrum Professional through the Scrum Alliance in 2011. In 2017, they acquired the Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org. Finally, in 2008, Tom became a Sun Certified Java Programmer, certified by Sun Microsystems.
