Gavin Mitchell

Gavin Mitchell currently serves as the Head of Legal and Governance at Orkney Islands Council, a position held since October 2015, and has also held roles as Head of Legal Services within the same council. Prior to this, Gavin was the Head of Legal and Compliance at the Scottish Police Authority from April 2013 to October 2015, following a tenure as Head of Legal Services at Grampian Police from January 2007 to April 2013. Gavin's legal career began with a trainee solicitor position at Ledingham Chalmers LLP in 1997, progressing through various roles at different law firms and police authorities. Gavin holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Honours) from the University of Aberdeen, a Diploma in Legal Practice from the same institution, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Employment Law and Practice from Robert Gordon University.
