Melvin Liwag

Melvin Liwag is a seasoned engineering professional with over three decades of experience at Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC - The Reliable One), currently serving as a Senior Engineer in System Planning and Reliability Engineering since July 1993. Key accomplishments include coordinating the installation of Ubicquia Distribution Transformer Monitors for real-time monitoring, leading projects on NOJA Power OSM reclosers, and implementing avian protective measures as Chairperson of the Avian Protection Committee. Liwag possesses expertise in various switchgear systems and is involved in improving distribution system reliability through advanced engineering initiatives. Additional roles at OUC includes support in distribution operations, management of construction and maintenance crews, and oversight of service and trouble technicians. In parallel, Liwag volunteers as Communications Lead and Volunteer Coordinator for Florida Search & Rescue since September 2017. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida.
