Benny Amon has extensive experience in advocacy and community organization, currently serving as a Client Advocate and Staff Interpreter at Orleans Public Defenders since September 2012. Prior to this role, Benny worked as an Organizer/Canvasser for the Louisiana Bucket Brigade for a short period in August 2012, and as a Community Advocate at the Southern Poverty Law Center from September 2011 to August 2012. Benny also held the position of Youth Organizer at Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools during a brief stint in 2010. Benny obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Development Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, from 2007 to 2010.

Established in 2007, OPD represents nearly 20,000 court-appointed clients each year.
