Orleans Public Defenders
Elisabeth Ford currently serves as a Staff Attorney at Orleans Public Defenders since September 2015. Prior to this role, Elisabeth held positions at Wellesley College from 2002 to 2012, including Assistant Professor and Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow. Elisabeth earned a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School between 2012 and 2015, after completing a Doctor of Philosophy in English and American Literature and Language at Harvard University from 1995 to 2002. Elisabeth also holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Yale University, obtained from 1990 to 1994.

The Orleans Public Defenders Office (OPD) aims to provide the citizens of Orleans Parish and each eligible client with the highest quality, client-centered legal representation in Louisiana's criminal justice system - zealous, conscientious, caring, professional, ethical and skilled - whether in criminal, municipal or traffic court. OPD is a community-oriented defender office built upon that zealous defense of the poor and indigent while acknowledging the strengths of clients, families and communities. Established in 2007, OPD represents nearly 20,000 court-appointed clients each year.
