James Swinden

Head Of Product And Technical Services at Orlebar Brown

James Swinden has a diverse and extensive work experience in the fashion industry. James has held various roles in different companies, starting from their early years as a Pattern Cutter at TOPSHOP TOPMAN, where they set up and ran the pattern room. From there, they worked at Burberry as a Men's Pattern Cutter, specializing in outerwear, tailoring, and casual trousers.

Afterward, they joined Bamford as a Technical Designer, where they worked closely with the design team and vendors to produce working documents and implement technical and design packs. James then moved to Jack Wills as the Men's Technical Manager, overseeing the garment technology departments for both Jack Wills and Aubin and Wills.

Swinden then joined AllSaints as a Senior Menswear Garment Technologist, managing the fitting process and collaborating with the in-house pattern room to develop new blocks. Next, they became the Senior Menswear Garment Technologist at Burberry, overseeing the men's London Outerwear and Heritage Trench Coat collections.

Swinden furthered their career at rag & bone as the Product Development Manager for their menswear collection, where they managed the development process from initial concept to sample delivery. Currently, they are the Head of Product and Technical Services at Orlebar Brown, where they are responsible for leading the product development, garment technology, and QC departments for the men's, children's, and accessories collections. James has implemented new processes and manuals, ensuring quality and compliance with testing and labeling requirements.

James Swinden attended the University of Derby from 1999 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design.
