Director Of Biometrics And Applied Research at Orpyx Medical Technologies

Emily Matijevich has extensive experience in the field of biometrics and applied research. Emily is currently serving as the Director of Biometrics and Applied Research at Orpyx®, where they started in February 2023. Prior to this, Emily worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Calgary from February 2021 to January 2023. Emily also held the position of PhD Graduate Student in the Biomechanics & Assistive Technology Lab at Vanderbilt University from August 2016 to December 2020, where they made significant contributions in developing wearable sensor algorithms for monitoring lower leg loading and overuse injury risk in runners. In addition, Emily designed an innovative approach for monitoring low back loading in individuals performing manual lifting by combining biomechanics, wearables, and machine learning. Emily further collaborated with Brooks Running as a Research Collaborator and Women in Sports Tech Fellowship Recipient from May 2019 to February 2020. Emily's career in research started at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they worked as an Undergraduate Researcher in the Human Dynamics and Controls Laboratory from September 2013 to May 2016. Emily also gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at Beckman Institute and Carle Hospital at Carle Foundation Hospital from May 2015 to December 2015.

Emily Matijevich is currently pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, a program that began in 2016 and is still ongoing. Prior to that, they received their Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they completed in 2016.
