Jordi Casas

A specialist in cross-border deals, Jordi was named ‘Lawyer of the Year 2017’ by Best Lawyers International in Venture Capital Law.

With a career spanning more than 20 years, and an educational background that took him from Spain to Belgium, France and the USA, he has deep expertise in mergers and acquisitions within life sciences and healthcare – along with other sectors – representing foreign companies in their Spanish investments, and Spanish clients in the sales to foreign entities.

His strategic skill in managing these complex projects mean he was declared as one of the ’40 under Forty’ by Iberian Lawyer, and he is now listed in Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers International, as well Chambers Europe’s ‘Spotlight Table’ for Barcelona, Corporate/Commercial.

Focusing on life sciences and healthcare, Jordi has recently advised the Spanish-listed pharma company, Grifols, in its acquisition of the US medtech company MedKeeper; the Spanish ophthalmological hospital, Barraquer, in its joint venture to open and operate a hospital in Dubai; and the Spanish B2B medical consultation service group, MeetingDoctors, in its international expansion.

Sharing his knowledge with the next generation of legal professional, he been a lecturer in corporate law in Barcelona’s Pompeu Fabra University for 14 years, and is co-author of the book Joint Ventures, published by Thomson Reuters.

Finally, Jordi is a member of the Barcelona Bar Association and the International Bar Association, and is currently a member of the International Board of Osborne Clarke.
