Markus Gerstel MBCS

Markus Gerstel MBCS has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Markus began their career at CANTS, where they owned the company for seventeen years until 2017. Markus then joined the University of Oxford as a Temporary Postdoctoral Research Associate in November 2018. In 2014, Markus joined Diamond Light Source as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and later transitioned to the role of Data Analysis Scientist. From May 2020 to April 2022, they served as a Senior Software Scientist at the same organization. Currently, Markus is employed as a Senior Software Engineer at Osirium since May 2022.

Markus Gerstel MBCS has a diverse educational background in the field of technology and mathematics. Markus obtained a DPhil degree in Systems Biology from the University of Oxford, St Hilda's College, where they studied from 2010 to 2015. Prior to that, Markus earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Mathematics and Statistics from The Open University, studying from 2011 to 2016.

During their undergraduate years, Markus pursued an Honors Degree in Technology Management from the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM), where they studied from 2006 to 2009. Markus also attained a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science from the University of Oxford, Lincoln College, from 2007 to 2008. Before starting their university education, Markus completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Informatics from the Technical University of Munich, studying from 2004 to 2006.

In addition to their academic achievements, Markus has obtained certifications in the field of IT. Markus is a member of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and holds the MBCS certification, which was obtained in 2015. Furthermore, they are an Associate Member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (AMIMA), having obtained this certification in May 2014.
